FOSSiBOT F2400 Companion

Privacy policy

App policy effective 27 October 2026. Website information added 28 October 2026.
Developer: Steve Madden · Contact: f2400@maddenuk.net

The companion app works locally over Bluetooth. This website provides information and an email route to request beta-testing access.

The app has no account, ads, analytics or tracking SDK, and does not connect to a developer-operated server. It does not request Internet, location, contacts, camera or microphone permission.

Data used on your phone

The app reads the selected battery's Bluetooth address/name, charge level, power readings, operating state, device settings and supported fault flags. These are used to display readings and send the control changes you request. The selected device and app preferences are saved in the app's private storage. Session readings and a bounded diagnostic log are kept in memory; they are not an online history.

Android Auto and notifications

With Android Auto, readings and controls are provided locally to the connected Android Auto host. A connection notification can show charge level and power on your phone, including its lock screen according to Android's notification settings.

Background operation

An active monitoring session uses a connected-device foreground service. Optional Background auto-connect uses Android's companion-device association and presence service for the device you choose. Android stores that association. Bluetooth access continues while monitoring is active, including when the screen is locked. Disconnect pauses automatic reconnection; Background auto-connect can also be turned off in Settings.

Sharing

The app does not send battery readings or personal data to the developer or advertisers. Copy diagnostics copies a local report to Android's clipboard only when you request it. If you email that report, you choose what to share and your email provider handles the message. The developer uses support emails only to answer enquiries and resolve reported problems, and deletes them when no longer needed. You can request deletion by email.

Retention and deletion

Saved device selection and preferences remain until app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. This app disables Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup of its data. Android companion-device associations can also be removed in Android settings. Memory-only readings/logs disappear when the process ends. Disconnect clears the displayed readings but does not forget the chosen device. Clearing the app's data does not reset the power station's own settings.

Security and limitations

Saved preferences use Android's private app storage. Android Auto hosts are checked against trusted signing certificates. Bluetooth communication uses the power station's existing protocol and does not add authentication or encryption that its firmware does not provide. The power station's behaviour and Android's own services are outside the developer's control.

No account is created, so there is no account-deletion process. Contact f2400@maddenuk.net for privacy enquiries. Future changes to this policy will be provided with the app and on its public privacy-policy page.

This website and beta invitations

This public website section does not set cookies, use analytics or tracking scripts, or collect sign-up details through a web form. Screenshots show example readings, not live data from a visitor’s battery.

The email button opens your own email application. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the message. It asks for your Google Play email address, battery model and phone/Android version; car/head-unit details are optional. Steve uses these details to check compatibility, manage tester access in Google Play Console, send testing instructions and answer feedback. Your email provider and Google process email and tester-list information under their own privacy policies. Your tester email is not published on this website or shared with other testers.

Tester details and correspondence are kept only while needed to run the test or address the enquiry, and removed when no longer needed. You can ask to leave the test, request removal from the tester list or request deletion of correspondence by emailing f2400@maddenuk.net.

Website access logs

The web server keeps normal access and error logs for operation and security. These may include IP address, request time, requested URL, browser information and referring page. Routine logs rotate daily and are normally retained for about 15 days. They are not used for advertising or behavioural profiling.

Independent development

This app and website are independently developed by Steve Madden, and are not affiliated with or endorsed by FOSSiBOT or Google. The privacy statements above describe this companion app and this website section, not BrightEMS, the power station’s firmware or unrelated MaddenUK services.
